The wonders of fleece
Before starting my complete nappy addiction I did become totally obsessed with LO's bottom and everything that came out of it! It's true that as a new parent you become obsessed with when your baby poos and what it looks like when they do, have they wee'd enough that day etc. Isaac has always been a heavy wetter and using cloth often means extra boosting to help the nappy last without leaks. There are quite a lot of different choices when thinking about boosters. You can get bamboo, microfibre, hemp to name a few. I've mainly opted for bamboo as it has good absorbency the drawback is that it requires longer drying time although you can put them in the tumble dryer ( I've only done this once when I was desperate!) Boosters can be added to AIO's by laying them on the inside of the nappy or in pockets by simply stuffing with the other inserts.
Once boosted, the nappy is ready to put on baby and then I add a fleece liner made from . . .you' ve guessed it, a blanket from pound land! I got this tip from a friend who's been using cloth a lot longer than me. I think I got 20 liners from one fleece blanket.
Fleece is truly magical! The other night Isaac had his close pop in nappy on for 11 hours ( good sleeping!) in the morning I went to change him and the soaker, booster and night booster were very damp to say the least. His bottom in the other hand was completely dry thanks to the fleece. A fabulous invention, the only drawback, new born poo makes the fleece stick to baby's bottom but I try to change dirty nappies very quickly anyway.
